Mission Hills is a small city, approximately 2 square miles in Johnson County, Kansas. One of the characteristics of Mission Hills that makes it so unique is the individual beauty and charm of the small parks and traffic islands along many of the streets. Fountains, statues, sculptures, and urns, some hundreds of years old, and museum pieces imported from abroad, adorn the traffic islands and roadsides.

Ernest Hemingway wrote much of his classic A Farewell to Arms while staying in Mission Hills in 1928.
 
The 2011 ABC Family television drama Switched at Birth was set in Kansas City, Missouri with the main characters living in Mission Hills.
 

Old Mission Hills

 
The northern half of Mission Hills, north of 63rd Street, is informally called "Old Mission Hills" and is dominated by opulent houses on large lots. There are two private country clubs in this section: The Mission Hills Country Club and the Kansas City Country Club.
 

Sunken Garden

 
A micro park originally built in the 1920s has been recently brought back to life in Mission Hills. The all-inclusive renovation project included new landscaping, hardscaping, and an irrigation system. It has been restored to its original beauty complete with tranquil sounds and eye-catching greenery.
