5 Secrets To Celebrate Cinco De Mayo in Kansas City
It’s hard to believe but spring is here, and Cinco De Mayo is on its way! If you’re planning on celebrating, here are some of Team Blake’s favorite places to enjoy Mexican food in Kansas City.
Charleston’s Restaurant
8817 State Line Rd, Kansas City, MO 64114 • See the menu
I’m always surprised that some of the best queso in Kansas City is at Charleston’s. You’ll find this restaurant in the Ward Parkway Shopping Center so it’s perfect for dinner and a movie! The queso has spicy sausage in it which gives it a really robust flavor, it’s got some heat, but it’s not too spicy and it pairs well with one of their signature margaritas.
Taco Cacao Taqueria
1046 W 103rd St, Kansas City, MO 64114 • See the menu
This is authentic Mexican food and as they like to say “No Tex-Mex here, only the Real Deal.” The poblano and chipotle enchiladas are among the top picks on the menu. In visiting on a weekday, make sure to take advantage of their happy hour menu that includes food items!
Taco Republic
500 County Line Rd Kansas City, KS 66103 • See the menu
Take some friends, take your dog and enjoy the creative menu offerings at the Taco Republic. This laid-back, original-style taqueria brings you great flavors from the streets of Mexico. This is the best homemade street taco you’ll get in Kansas City, and if you’re anything like us, you’ll love being able to order a drink named after a car, The El Dorado.
Kansas City Taco Company
520 Walnut St, Kansas City, MO 64106 • See the menu
Spend this Cinco De Mayo at the River Market with a charred pineapple margarita and some incredibly delicious baja cod tacos at Kansas City Taco Company, while enjoying their outdoor patio. Want to take it home? Snag a liter of your favorite margarita and some of Kansas City’s best tacos to take home and party in your living room.
Los Alamos Cocina
1667 Summit St, Kansas City, MO 64108
Go and see Gustaf at Los Alamos at 17th and Summit! This is a truly excellent street food experience with a really friendly staff. If you time your visit just right, you will probably meet Gus, the friendly owner and his family. Just point to the good stuff and get a plate of awesome food, pick up a six-pack of beer from the cooler or grab an authentic pinata.
