Always offering something new, Afterword is a boozy bookstore that switches up its cocktail menu four times a year, in addition to showcasing a weekly rotating cocktail. Beyond books and beverages, you can find a few board games around their living room-style couch, perfect for double-date scenarios.
Le Fou Frog
Consistently voted one of Kansas City’s best French and most romantic restaurants, Le Fou Frog is one of the coziest choices for date night in the city. Since 1996, Le Fou Frog has been a bit of France and New York City tucked away on the corner of 5th and Oak in Kansas City’s River Market. The KC staple is best known for its escargot, lobster bisque, and the delectable mousse au chocolate.
The Hey! Hey! Club

From the minds of Chef Michael and Christina Corvino, Corvino Supper Club takes the best ingredients and techniques culled from around the world to create delicious, interesting food. In 2024, Corvino took its private tasting room and turned it into Songbird, an intimate cocktail lounge serving a wide range of exceptional cocktails, low-to-no-alcohol beverages, and a delicious food menu to complement. While we’d suggest reservations for both, there is always a chance for a walk-in.

With 5,000 years of art and a gorgeous restaurant in the dramatic style of a 15th-century Italian courtyard, the Nelston-Atkins Museum of Art and Rozelle Court Restaurant are slam-dunk pairing for a date perfect for a rainy day. If you find yourself needing an afternoon pick up, you can also stop at the Thou Mayest Coffee Roasters on level one of the Bloch Building. With free admission every day, for everyone, it’s never a bad time to visit one of Kansas City’s cultural gems just a few blocks from the Country Club Plaza.

Specializing in sugarcane and agave spirits such as rum, tequila, and mezcal, Fern Bar invites you to enjoy highly-curated cocktails and a warm atmosphere on the corner of Broadway Blvd. and Southwest Blvd. The Fern Bar team believes in building a community, not just a bar, and with that come a number of fun pop-ups and music events throughout the month.
